Mud straps are perfect for extreme or muddy terrain. I like to use them myself when we ride our horses in the river, because the current is quite strong.
It is also important to find the right size of mouth strap to ensure a perfect fit. One finger should fit between the mud strap and the ankle. If they are too tight, they can rub; if they are too loose, they offer no support in extreme situations. It should not be possible to push the mud strap right up to the edge of the scoot boot. They are made of TPU (thermoplastic urethane) and can be extended by up to 10mm to the next size using hot air. Please only do this if you want to keep them, as they cannot be returned.
If the mud straps are to be retrofitted, simply measure roughly beforehand with a tape and hold the tape over the front straps together with your fingers by 3 cm.
